Greetings, Ranger families! My name is Jim Mahler, and it is my distinct pleasure to serve the Roanoke Elementary community as Assistant Principal. For the last two years, I have been been an assistant principal at Blue Haze Elementary in White Settlement. Prior to that I spent seven years at Sendera Ranch Elementary (Haslet) teaching fourth grade language arts and one year as a kindergarten teacher at Prairie View Elementary (Rhome). I am excited about returning to my Northwest ISD roots this year! I have an undergraduate degree in Telecommunications as well as an MBA from Butler University (Indianapolis), and I earned a Masters degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University.

My family moved to Haslet from Indiana in 2000. My wife, Mary, is a self-employed horseback riding instructor and judge, and she also competes in an equestrian sport called dressage. We have a daughter, Laura, who is a law school student at the University of Texas; our son, James, is a sophomore at Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh) studying statistics and machine learning. Laura and James are both graduates of Northwest High School where they played basketball. We are definitely a sports-crazy family. We love the Texas Rangers, the Indianapolis Colts, and the Butler Bulldogs!
