Ultimate Book Challenge 2020-2021
Sign up is closed for the 2020-2021 UBC Challenge.
What is it?
Ultimate Book Challenge is a reading competition designed to improve reading and comprehension while also building enthusiasm for reading. Students will compete individually and in teams to show their knowledge of 8 pre-selected books.
Who can compete?
Students in 3rd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade are eligible for the challenge.
When does it start?
Students will be given an introduction to the challenge during their October 19-22 library lesson/visit. Students can sign up through Friday, October 30, 2020.
How will teams be formed?
Once sign-up closes, students will create teams and will meet weekly via Zoom in Breakout Rooms to discuss the book and work on weekly challenges.
When is the school-wide challenge?
In December (December 15-17), the students will complete a campus challenge to find our winning school team.
When is the district challenge?
On February 9, 2021 at 6:00 p.m., our Roanoke UBC team will compete against the other elementary schools' UBC teams at Northwest High School to declare a district winner. If we are unable to meed due to restrictions, we will find another way to hold the competition.
